INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 8th March

THE HISTORY OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
International Women's Day, formalized by the United Nations in 1977, not only reminds us about the victories of women, but also invites us to reflect upon the role and status of women in the world at large. In one century women have achieved legal and legislative equality in most countries of the world. However, equality in actual fact remains a goal that has yet to be achieved.

ORIGINS
Just like other symbolic dates, International Women's Day came about due to several historical occurrences. It is the symbolic culmination of both the long public struggle for women's rights and the more private struggle waged everyday by women that have made the celebration of this day possible.

The main historical reference of International Women's Day is based on the strikes that were made by American female workers in 1857 and in 1911 in New York City. These strikes were a protest by the female workers against the miserable working conditions they were forced to endure. One event was particularly significant to these demonstrations. On March 25th 1911, a group of female workers, who were demonstrating in a textile factory in New York, died as a result of a fire. These women were not able to escape from the fire because the doors of the factory were locked. The doors had been locked in order to ensure that the workers would not leave before the end of the workday.

Another important historical reference is the Second International Conference of socialist women, which took place in 1910 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Here, the German socialist leader, Clara Zetkin, proposed to create an international day for women, so as to recognize the struggle undertaken by women worldwide. In 1977, two years after the International Women's Year, The United Nations adopted a resolution inviting Member States to observe a day for the celebration of the rights of women and international peace. Consequently, March 8th has become a day of recognition of the rights of women in many countries in the World.

ENGLISH SONG: AVRIL LAVIGNE - I will be

There’s nothing I can say to you
Nothing I could ever do to make you see

What you mean to me
All the pain the tears they cry

Still you never said goodbye
and now I know how far you’d go

I know I let you down but its not like that now

This time I’ll never let you go

I will be all that you want and get myself together

Cause you keep me from falling apart

All my life I’ll be with you forever

To get you through the day and make every thing OK

I thought that I had every thing

I didn’t know what life could bring

But now I see honestly

You're the one thing I got right

The only one I let inside

Now I can breathe 'cause you're here with me

And if I let you down I’ll turn it all around

Cause I would never let you go

I will be all that you want and get myself together

Cause you keep me from falling apart

All my life I’ll be with you forever

To get you through the day and make every thing OK

Cause with out you I can’t sleep

I’m not gonna ever ever let you leave

You’re all I got
You’re all I want
Yeah
And with out you I don’t know what I’ll do

I could never ever live a day with out you

Hear with me do you see your all I need

And I will be all that you want and get myself together

Cause you keep me from falling apart

All my life (my life) I will be with you forever

To get you through the day and make every thing OK

I will be (I’ll be) all that you want and get myself together

Cause you keep me from falling apart

And all my life you know I will be with you forever

To get you through the day and make every thing OK

ENGLISH SONG: SILENT NIGHT

SILENT NIGHT
The origin of the Christmas carol we know as Silent Night was a poem that was written in 1816 by an Austrian priest called Joseph Mohr. On Christmas Eve in 1818 in the small alpine village called Oberndorf it is reputed that the organ at St. Nicholas Church had broken. Joseph Mohr gave the poem of Silent Night (Stille Nacht) to his friend Franz Xavier Gruber and the melody for Silent Night was composed with this in mind. The music to Silent Night was therefore intended for a guitar and the simple score was finished in time for Midnight Mass. Silent Night is the most famous Christmas carol of all time!

Silent night, holy night

All is calm, all is bright

Round yon Virgin Mother and Child

Holy Infant so tender and mild

Sleep in heavenly peace

Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!

Shepherds quake at the sight

Glories stream from heaven afar

Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!

Christ, the Saviour is born

Christ, the Saviour is born

CHOCOLATE BROWNIE

How To Make Chocolate Brownies
Chocolate Brownies Recipe. The Art of Hospitality School specializes in making food with kids - that's healthy and fun to cook. This is Chef Sally Kuhrt's delicious chocolate Brownies Recipe

Step 1: You will need…
250 g caster sugar
180 g plain chocolate drops
180 g soft butter
110 g plain flour
1 vanilla extract
3 eggs
some butter for greasing
150 g walnuts
baking parchment
baking tin
oven gloves
heatproof bowl
small saucepan
wooden spoon
large mixing bowl
teaspoon
tablespoon
spatula
whisk
sharp knife
pallet knife

Step 2: Prepare
Grease the side of the tin by rubbing with a kitchen towel dipped in a little soft butter. Line with a square of baking parchment. Turn on the oven, and set it to 160 degrees Celsius, or 320 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 3: Chocolate & Butter Fill the saucepan with a little water, and sit a heat proof bowl on top. The bottom of the bowl should not touch the water, and definitely not the bottom of the saucepan. Remove some of the water if this is the case. Cut the butter up into small pieces. Place them in the bowl and add the chocolate.

Step 4: Heat Put the saucepan over a low heat. Make sure the saucepan handle is facing away from you, so you don't knock it. The chocolate and butter will gently melt over about 10 minutes. Don't be tempted to stir! This will solidify the chocolate, and you won't be able to melt it again after that.

Step 5: Cool
When completely melted, stir gently with a wooden spoon. Turn off the heat, remove the bowl from the pan and leave it to cool.

Step 6: Eggs, Sugar, Vanilla Put the 3 eggs, 250 grams of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract into a large bowl. Whisk together

Step 7: Add chocolate
Fold in the cooled chocolate mixture

Step 8: Add remaining ingredients Now add 110 grams of plain flour. Use a method called cutting and folding to mix it, moving the spoon in a figure of 8. This helps to keep the mixture light and airy. If you would like, add 150g chopped walnuts, again using the cutting and folding action.

Step 9: Bake
Put the mixture in a tin and smooth the top over evenly. Bake at 160 degrees Celsius for 20 to 30 minutes. If you can, set a timer to make sure they don't over cook. Check after 20 minutes. The chocolate brownies should still be soft but not springy.

Step 10: Cool Remove the chocolate brownies from the oven and leave to cool in the tin for at least 30 minutes.

Step 11: Serve the chocolate brownies
Cut into squares with a sharp knife. Lift the baking parchment from the tin, and use a pallet knife to transfer the chocolate brownies to a serving plate.

ENGLISH BREAKFAST

How To Make A Traditional Full English Breakfast
Traditional Full English Breakfast Recipe. Gail and Jill, of the Blacksmith's Café in Hastings, guide us through the ritual of making the perfect fried breakfast. Savour our Traditional Full English Breakfast recipe.

Step 1: You will need
2 sausages
100 g mushrooms
2 Rashers bacon
2 eggs
150 g baked beans
vegetable oil
ketchup or brown sauce
1 knife
1 chopping board
1 wooden stirring spoon
1 spatula
1 small saucepan 2 frying pans

Step 2: Sausages
We start with our sausages. Quality is crucial here - go for ones with a high percentage of pork and natural ingredients.Place them in a frying pan with preheated vegetable oil.
They'll take the longest to cook of all our ingredients, around 12 minutes, with regular turning required. They make a lovely, reassuring sizzle as they fry.

Step 3: Mushrooms
Wash and slice the mushrooms. Add them to some preheated vegetable oil in a separate frying pan, then stir and toss them on a gentle heat for about 5 minutes. After that, consign them to a warm plate until the rest of the fry-up is finished, which won't be long now. Because things are really starting to hot up.

Step 4: Bacon
Bacon next; when the sausages have been frying for 8 minutes, add the rashers to the same pan and turn them every minute or two.

Step 5: Baked beans
As soon as your bacon's under way, the baked beans go on the stove. They require a gentle heat and plenty of stirring. Now it's a total juggling act!

Step 6: Eggs
While you keep an eye on all that sizzling and bubbling, replenish the other frying pan with oil and put it on a medium heat in readiness for the eggs. Keep turning the bacon and stirring the beans; then crack one egg... and two, into the empty frying pan. Transfer it to the hottest plate on the stove if necessary - keep stirring those beans! And we're nearly done.
The final touch is to get your spatula and splash hot oil over the eggs until the yolks go opaque. This is a sure sign that they're cooked properly. And when they're done, the whole meal is done.

Step 7: Serve
Add it all to the plate with the mushrooms on and get ready for the Full English experience. Try a little tomato ketchup or brown sauce for the finishing touch to the perfect fried breakfast.

ENGLISH SONG: DAVID BOWIE- SPACE ODDITY

ENGLISH SONG: YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE

SONG: YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE
Artists: Gerry & The Pacemakers

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.

At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver
Song of a lark.

Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams
Be tossed and blown.

Walk on
Walk on

With hope in your hearts
I And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone.

Walk on
Walk on
With hope in your hearts
I And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

ENGLISH SONG: WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS

"We Wish You a Merry Christmas" is a popular secular 16th century English carol from West Country of England. It is one of the few traditional holiday carols that makes mention of the New Year's celebration. In the days of Olde England, groups of travelling singers would entertain for food or pay. These groups were called "waits" and were extremely popular at Christmastime. We Wish You a Merry Christmas is one of these old tunes.
We wish you a Merry Christmas History has its roots in England. However the author and the composer of the song still remains unknown to the whole world. Therefore the date of the publication of the song is not known. This song We wish you a Merry Christmas actually reflects the Christmas tradition of showering gifts on the people who wandered from house to house, singing these Christmas songs to please the wealthy people of the community.

WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS

We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
And a happy New Year.

We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
And a happy New Year.

Good tidings we bring
To you and your king;
we come here to tell you
that countdown began.

Good tidings we bring
To you and your king;
We hope you find friendship
And days full of fun.

ENGLISH SONG: Alejandro Sanz & Alicia Keys- Looking for Paradise

Artists: Alejandro Sanz & Alicia Keys
Tittle: Looking for Paradise

Everybody say oh oh oh oh

Driving in a fast car
Trying to get somewhere
Don´t know where I´m going
But i gotta get there

A veces me siento perdido
Inquieto, solo y confundido
Entonces me ato a las estrellas
Y al mundo entero le doy vueltas

I’m singing for somebody like you
Sorta like me baby
Yo canto para alguien como tú
Pon la oreja, nena
Oh oh oh oh

Estoy buscando ese momento
La música, que cuando llega
Me llena con su sentimiento
Con sentimiento, vida llena

Walking down the sideway
Looking for innocence
Trying to find my way
Trying to make some sense

Yo canto para alguien como tú
Sólo como tú, baby
I’m singing for somebody like you
What about you

I’m singing for someone
Someone like you
Tú, dime a quién le cantas
‘Cause there’s something about you there
Speaks to my heart
Speaks to my soul

I’m singing for someone
Sorta like you
Yo canto para alguien
Someone like you, someone like me
Sólo como tú, oh, my sister
Todo el mundo va buscando ese lugar
Looking for paradise
Oh oh oh oh

A ese corazón herido
La música le da sentido
Te damos con la voz tus alas
Le damos a tus pies camino

Oh is anybody out there
Feel like I feel
Trying to find a better way
So we can heal

I’m singing for somebody like you
Sorta like me, baby
Yo canto para alguien como tú
Sólo como tú
What about you?

Yo canto para ti
I’m singing for someone
Yo canto para alguien
‘Cause there’s something about you there
Speaks to my heart
Speaks to my soul

I’m singing for someone
I’m singing
Sorta like you

Yo canto para alguien
Someone like you, someone like me

Sólo como tú, oh, my sister
Todo el mundo va buscando ese lugar
Looking for paradise
Oh oh oh oh

ENGLISH SONG: I'M YOURS - Jason Mraz

Artist: Jason Mraz
Tittle: I’m yours

Well you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but you're so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks
Now I'm trying to get back
Before the cool done run out
I'll be giving it my bestest
And nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some

I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm yours

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
Listen to the music of the moment babay sing with me
I love peace for melody
And It's our God-forsaken right to be loved love loved love loved

So I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm sure

There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours

Scooch on over closer dear
And I will nibble your ear

I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and laughed
I guess what I'm be saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do
Our name is our virtue

But I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm sure

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find that the sky is yours
Please don't, please don't, please don't
There's no need to complicate
Cause our time is short
This oh this this is out fate, I'm yours!

See, somehow I can't forget you,
After all that we've been through.

Going, coming... thought I heard a knock
Who's there? No one
Thinking that I deserve it
Now I realize that I really didn't,
Nooo

If you didn't notice, boy,
you mean everything.
Quickly I'm learningto love again,
All I know isI'm gon' be okayBaby...

[Chorus:] Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too, ooh yeah
(It'll all get better in time)
And even though I really love you,
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to
It'll all get better in timeI couldn't turn on the TV,
Without something there to remind me
Was it all that easy?

To just put aside your feelings.
If I'm dreaming,
don't wanna lie,
Hurt my feelings

But that's the path I believe in,
And I know that time will heal it
If you didn't notice,
well You mean everything.
Quickly I'm learning to love again,
All I know is I'm gon' be okay

[Chorus:] Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too, ooh yeah
(It'll all get better in time)
And even though I really love you,
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to, ooooooh

It'll all get better in time
Since there's no more you and me (no more you and me)
It's time I let you go so I can be free
And live my life how it should be.
(No no no no no no)

No matter how hard it is,
I'll be fine without you, Yes I will.

[Chorus:] Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too ohhhh
It'll all get better in time ooooh
And even though I really love you
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to (yes I do)
It'll all get better in time, woah

ENGLISH SONGS: Matt Wertz. It's 5:19

Artist: Matt Wertz
Tittle: It's 5:19

I'd be lying throught my teeth if I told you
That I'm ok
July came, I thought I had it all together
Until you said"I need some space"
Truth be told
It's so hard to wait
One eye on the clock
And one on the phone
It's 5:19....I'm feeling alone
If I could talk to you
I'd want you to know
I'm holding loose
But ain't letting go.

We both know that I could think myself dizzy
Right now I'm spinning around
You said, "baby, don't worry"
But I just miss you right now
I said, I miss you right now
One eye on the clock
And one on the phone
It's 5:19....I'm feeling alone
If I could talk to you
I'd want you to know
I'm holding loose
But ain't letting go.
Baby, take all the time you need
I just want you to know
I'll be here, waiting
With one eye on the clock
And one on the phoneIt's 5:19....
I'm feeling alone
If I could talk to you
I'd want you to know
I'm holding loose
But ain't letting go.(x2)ooooo....
Ain't letting go

ENGLISH SONGS: Elvis Presley. Always on my mind

Artist: Elvis Presley
Tittle: ALWAYS ON MY MIND

Maybe I didn't treat you
Quite as good as I should have
Maybe I didn't love you
Quite as often as I could have
Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
Maybe I didn't hold you
All those lonely, lonely times
And I guess I never told you
I'm so happy that you're mine
If I make you feel second best
Girl,I'm sorry I was blind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died
Give me, give me one more chance
To keep you satisfied, satisfied
Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
Maybe I didn't treat you
Quite as good as I should have
Maybe I didn't love you
Quite as often as I could have
Maybe I didn't hold you
All those lonely, lonely times
And I guess I never told you
I'm so happy that you're mine

Tittle: CAN’T HELP FALLING IN LOVE

Wise men say only fools rush in
but I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I staywould it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you
Like a river flows
surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
some things are meant to be
take my hand, take my whole life too
for I can't help falling in love with you
Like a river flows
surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
somethings are meant to be
take my hand, take my whole life too
for I can't help falling in love with you
for I can't help falling in love with you

ENGLISH SONGS: The Beatles. Nowhere man

Artist: The Beatles
Tittle: NOWHERE MAN

He's a real nowhere man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody

Doesn't have a point of view
Knows not where he's going to
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

Nowhere Man, please listen
You don't know what you're missing
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command

He's as blind as he can be
Just sees what he wants to see
Nowhere Man can you see me at all?

Nowhere Man, don't worry
Take your time, don't hurry
Leave it all till somebody else lends you a hand

Doesn't have a point of view
Knows not where he's going to
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

Nowhere Man, please listen
You don't know what you're missing
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command

He's a real Nowhere Man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody

ENGLISH SONGS: The Beatles. Let it be

Artist: The Beatles
Tittle: LET IT BE

When I find myself in times of trouble,
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom,
let it be
And in my hour of darknessshe
is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom,
let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
And when the broken hearted people
living in the world agree
There will be an answer,
let it be
For though they may be parted, there is still a chance that they will seeT
here will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
There will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
And when the night is cloudy
there is still a light that shines on me
Shine until tomorrow, let it be
I wake up to the sound of music,
Mother Mary comforts me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be

The Mamas & The Papas. Biography

The Mamas & The Papas. Biography
The Mamas & The papasMembers: John Phillips (b. 1935), Michelle Phillips (b. 1944), Dennis Doherty a.k.a Denny (b. 1941), and Ellen Naomi Cohen a.k.a Cass Elliot (b. 1941-d. 1974)

The Mamas and the Papas burst onto the American pop charts in early 1966 with a 'Flower Power' anthem, "California Dreamin".

But by 1968, after a number one album and single and countless top ten hits, it was all over. Here's a brief biography on them.It all started in 1961 when John Phillips, who was in a folk band called The Journeymen, met Michelle Gilliam, an aspiring model. They soon fell in love.

While the Journeymen were on tour, John met a rich tenor named Denny Doherty. Later, Doherty would leave his group "The Halifax Three", and hook up with Cass Elliot. The two of them became life-long friends.Meanwhile, John divorced his wife, and he and Michelle moved to New York City, where EVERYONE in the folk scene hung out.
They joined up with Denny and Marshall Brickman and formed "The New Joureymen".

In 1964, Denny introduced them to Cass. In 1965, John, Michelle and Denny, in true "hippie" form, decided to leave New York for a while and went to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. Cass, who wanted to be "more than friends" with Denny soon followed. In St. Thomas, they lounged around on the sand, smoked pot, swam, and perfected their harmonies while John worked on some songs.Cass wasn't yet a part of the group because John didn't know if she could sing high enough.
Success came fast for them. Their first single "California Dreamin" broke in the top 10 in early 1966. Many top 10 hits soon followed. The Summer of Love really began with the "Monterey Pop FestivalThe Mamas and the Papas were the first band to utilize folk, rock, jazz, pop, and beautiful harmonies. They were music icons and the "spokespeople" for the counter culture. To top it all off, they were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

Their music continues to be loved and appreciated by all generations.

Monday, so good to me,
Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would be
Oh Monday morning, Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening you would still be here with me.
Monday Monday, can't trust that day,
Monday Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh Monday morning, you gave me no warning of what was to be
Oh Monday Monday, how yould cou leave and not take me.
Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
You can find me cryin' all of the time

Anybody here seen my old friend Abraham?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed lotta people but it seems the good they die young
You know I just looked around and he's gone
Anybody here seen my old friend John?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed lotta people but it seems the good they die young
I just looked around and he's gone
Anybody here seen my old friend Martin?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed lotta people but it seems the good they die young
I just looked around and he's gone
Didn't you love the things that they stood for?
Didn't they try to find some good for you and me?
And we'll be freeSome day soon, it's gonna be one day
Anybody here seen my old friend Bobby?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
I thought I saw him walkin' up over the hill

ENGLISH SONGS: Zager & Evans. In the year 2525

Artist: Zager & Evans
Tittle: IN THE YEAR 2525

In the year 2525
if man is still alive
if woman can survive
They may find
In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do and say
Is in the pill you took today
In the year 4545
You ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes
You won't find a thing to chew
Nobody's gonna look at you

In the year 5555
Your arms hangin' limp at your sides
Your legs got nothin' to do
Some machine's doin' that for you

In the year 6565
You won't need no husband, won't need no wife
You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too
From the bottom of a long glass tube

In the year 7510
If God's a-coming, He oughta make it by then
Maybe He'll look around Himself and say
"Guess it's time for the judgement day"

In the year 8510
God is gonna shake His mighty head
He'll either say "I'm pleased where man has been"
Or tear it down, and start again

In the year 9595
I'm kinda wonderin' if man is gonna be alive
He's taken everything this old earth can give
And he ain't put back nothing

Now it's been ten thousand years
Man has cried a billion tears
For what, he never knew
Now man's reign is through
But through eternal night
The twinkling of starlight
So very far away
Maybe it's only yesterday
